Santa Claus, may I introduce Sonya Chloe to you?

Sonya Chloe in a very big and very yellow dressSonya Chloe is a 270-year-old Snegoruchka, or Mother Frost.  In Russian fairy tales Mother Frost lives in the sky, making it snow by plumping up her down pillows and letting loose a storm of feathers.

Actually, Sonya Chloe is a self-styled Snegoruchka, a transformation she'd reluctantly undertaken after eating an entire Fruitcake of Immortality by mistake. This occurred in a little cabin in Quebec, at a time when she was starving.

She'd then journeyed on to an Arctic ice palace, Palais du Nord, which became her new home.

Every January Sonya Chloe invites guests to Palais du Nord for a week-long celebration, Charme de Neige (Snowspell).

If you were invited, you would instantly recognize Sonya Chloe by her very big and very yellow dress. Of living in the Arctic, Sonya Chloe says:  "When the night lasts six months, one must become one's own sun."

Santa your big house
is built on ice
and there ain't no earth
only ocean underneath
and Spring is coming
the big thaw is coming

don't let it fall through
don't let it fall through

A sprig of forsythia in her hair...
a sprig of forsythia in her hair,
peach and lime on a silver tray,
a wild ride through the midnight air -
 Charme de Neige, im Januar
